Dad was proud to have been a Sapper and the 22+ years he spent in the army dictated the rest of this life, not least because he met mum whilst on exercise in Denmark. He spent most of his post-army years working in telecoms and was always a keen member of one military/ex-military organisation or another, whether it was the TA, the Cadets, the REA or the RE Lodge of the Masons. Never afraid to speak his mind, he certainly ruffled a few feathers during his 65 years, but he was always fiercely loyal and made many more friends than enemies. Over the last few days I've received plenty of emails from friends past and present, including many stories. My brother and I have enjoyed reading them and would like to encourage others who knew him - from whatever point in his life - to share their memories of him too.
